It was back in 1999 when the original release of this 3D fighting took over Sega Dreamcast system hitting their previous competition hard,. This time, Soul Calibur has been released for mobile systems, respecting the features that made the game so popular among fighting fans. This game is available to download for Android and iOS systems.
After the events of the first title, released originally on PSX as Soul Blade, Sigfried has obtained the Soul Edge, falling into the darkness, and turning into Nightmare, claiming souls for increasing his as-yet weak power. Fortunately, a brave group of warriors embark on the mission of defeating Nightmare and the Evil Seed for once for all.

The technical part of the game has been enhanced regarding the original Dreamcast release. However, it respects the same graphical design and artwork, so this Soul Calibur for mobile devices keeps the nostalgic aspect. Due to the high polygonal charge, Soul Calibur is not optimized for old devices so that it may run lagged.
When you first think about an action fighting game, your hands are in the arcade controller grip position, so porting this game into a smartphone directly affects the gameplay. The action buttons are placed on the right side of the screen during the movement stick at the left, respecting classic control placement. Unless you are used to this kind of controlling scheme, it may result a bit uncomfortable for performing attacking combos and special attacks. Unfortunately, external controller doesn’t seem to work at the moment, something we expect the developers add this controller support.
The roster includes the original 19 characters from the DC release, most of them having appeared previously in the first game of the Soul series. Kilik, Tali, Sophitia, Cervantes de Leon, Ivy, Siegfried, and Nightmare are only examples of those fighters that appear on this ported installment. Initially the whole roster is not available, so you need to fulfill different objectives for unlocking them all for free.
The difference between Android and iOS versions comes once you take a look at the game modes available at the moment. While the version for the Apple devices includes all the original modes, with the exception of the original Mission Mode, the Android title lacks one of the main modes, VS Battle, at least for the moment. This is bad news for the Google OS, but fortunately Bandai Namco can always release a new patch to download.
